Workouts ... last week today - April 17

I've started to taper down a bit for my upcoming half marathons.  Run Like A Diva is in 7 days!

I have kept up with planks for the week, but have taken out the HIIT until I get across the finish line.  The beauty (to me) of the 12 Minute Athlete app is that you get a different workout each time you do it... so I am never bored. However, I was noticing that changing out some of the exercises would leave my legs sore for a while... not wanting sore legs for the race.

I had an unplanned rest day and am trying not to feel too bad about missing out on a run. I had compressed my schedule since I took a trip out to the Hubs deer lease for some camping and unwinding over the weekend.  It was a lot of fun, always nice to be "unplugged" for a while.

Here is how my week lined up:

Sunday - 8 miles steady (average pace 10:33)

Monday - Rest

Tuesday - 4 miles easy (average pace 10:37)  & planks (45 sec. x 3). Got a nice run in with my sweetie Sorcha.

Wednesday - Planned - 6 miles steady; Actual - rest day. Had to take one of my sweeties (Mr. Squeekers) to the vet... it was kind of unexpected, so I wasn't able to plan for a workout earlier in the day.  After 2+ hours at the vet and worrying all day - my nerves were shot and I was exhausted.  It all turned out well and he is on the mend (I'll save everyone the gruesome details).

Thursday - Planned 3 miles easy; Actual 6.2 miles fast (average pace 9:53) & planks (45 sec. x 3). My new Altra Torin shoes came in the day before, first run in them... I think they make me speedy!

Looks like you had a good week! Glad Mr. Squeekers is ok - a sick pet is so stressful!

What kind of dog is Sorcha? She does look sweet. I'm glad Mr. Squeekers is doing OK. I was mostly unplugged myself while in FL. I enjoyed it. Plus, I had Tricia keeping up with the social media. Enjoy your taper this week and good luck at the Diva's half marathon. Thanks for linking with us Ana!

  9. Sorcha is a Border Collie mix... we know that mama was a BC, just not quite sure what baby daddy was.

  11. A camping and unwinding weekend trip does sound nice! Do you stay in a tent or is there a camphouse? You know we "camp" a lot but in our RV. Some call it not camping much but still.. Aww your cat reminds me of one I had that passed away. Her name was Ninja. Yea when we first got her she was wild and mean as a snake. She would spin around, hiss at you so Ninja stuck! Love the wine in a red solo cup! Now I'm gonna have that song in my mind the rest of the day, ha! Thanks for linking up with us!

  12. We stay in a trailer up there. We used to tent camp a lot when we lived in KS, but too many fireants down here.
