Workouts - Last Week Today - July 10

Kept up my running routine, and feeling great.  I can't believe training for the Houston Half starts next week! This summer is flying by!

I remembered to wear my Jawbone Up24 a few times this week. I have determined that I can easily get in 10k steps if I walk both dogs at night. The girls are loving the extra attention that brings since they get to go with me for evening walks. I don't take them out on runs as much in the summer time because I think it is just too hot for them... sometimes it feels too hot for me, but at least I don't have on a fur coat!

Here is how my week shook out:

Sunday - Rest day... I declared Sunday a "pajama day"!  I hadn't had one in so long, so I enjoyed it.  Read (War Brides), watched tv (Mr. Selfridge), and a couple of movies (Hot Pursuit and Everest).

Monday - Baytown Bud Heatwave - 5 miles - 50:34.  I wasn't really sure what time goal to focus on, so I just ran based on effort.  I was pleased with my time, especially since I took a couple walking water breaks.  It was HOT... 84 degrees at the 7am start... but there was a nice breeze.  Had a great time! Look for recap later this week.

Tuesday - Easy 4 miles (average pace 11:36)

Wednesday - Rest + dog walk x 2

Thursday - Easy 3 miles (average pace 11:52) with Anam. She seemed to struggle a bit, I think this is the last run she is going on until it cools down.

Friday - Rest.

Saturday - 4 miles (average pace 10:48). I managed to get up and out the door by 7:30... a huge accomplishment for me! It made the run a lot more pleasurable than if I would have waited.

  1. I look forward to hearing about your race. Sounds like it was definitely a hot one but you did a great job! Congrats!

  2. Racing at 84 degrees is intense. Great job! I used to walk both of my dogs in the evenings but one of mine has a tumor (supposedly not cancerous) right on the top of her rib cage where her harness would go. I'm using that as an excuse not to walk her. Really, there seems to be little time leftover in the evenings right now. I love the pic with the Budweiser Clydesdale! Thanks for linking, Vicki!

  3. Whew... intense is a good word for it :-) It seems easier to get walks in during the summer time than when we lose all the daylight.
