Workouts - Last Week Today - July 3

Feeling good about being back in my running routine.  My mileage is low, and I'm slowly increasing it.

I don't start my training cycle for my next half marathon until the the middle of this month.  I have a few shorter distance races on the horizon, and I will start incorporating a little speed work here and there, but frankly... I'm running to have fun!

I am trying to remember to wear my Jawbone Up24 to help motivate me to get 10k steps. That requires a lot more moving! My dogs are loving the extra attention that brings since they get to go with me for evening walks.

Here is how my week shook out:

Sunday - Easy 5 miles (average pace 11:24).  As per usual, I got a late start... it is really heating up, but I think I am becoming acclimated to the heat.  I took walking water breaks at each mile.  Total steps 18,453.

Monday - 3.25 miles easy (average pace 10:32) with the Gooses Acre Running Club... they run earlier in the evening than I usually do, it was steamy. Total steps 12,850.

Tuesday - Rest. My evening dog walk got rained out. Total steps 5,491.

Wednesday - 4 miles easy (average pace 10:37).  Total steps 59 - I left my tracker at home, never put it back on after my shower in the morning - ha.

Thursday - Easy 3 miles with Anam.  (average pace 11:19)

Friday - Rest. 5,491 total steps.

Saturday - Rest... sort of, 6 hours driving time logged - dropped the hubs out at the hunting lease. Forgot the Up at home, I would have to say steps were less than 200.

Total miles = 15

  1. Sounds like a great week! Hours in the car will kill your step count for sure!

  2. I hate when i'm tracking my steps and then I forget to put it on for part of the day. You did well though!

  3. I hope I follow your lead and get used to the heat! My paces have been slower than I am used to because of the weather.

  4. My Fitbit stopped working about a week ago. I don't think I'll replace it although I will miss the sleep info. My Garmin tracks steps too, but it's so bulky. It's great to hear you are enjoying your running routine. This heat requires a lot of walking stops, doesn't it? My mileage has been low too but I'll start the increase this week. Thanks for linking with us Vicki!

  5. Well done! I just started wearing a Fitbit a few weeks ago, and it's been really motivating me to move more throughout the day.

  7. Oh... my paces are suffering because of the heat. I have noticed that running in the heat doesn't feel as horrible as it had been.

  8. Yes, lots of walking stops. On good days, I'm noticing the walking stops get further apart.

  11. Sounds like your Up24 is helping with motivation! 10,000 is hard to get if your not running don't you think? My fitbit died but I'm trying to decide if I want to get the new Blaze in place of it!

  12. It does help with motivation, especially when I remember to put it back on! I love that it has the inactivity timer, that really helps when I am at work... I feel that little buzz and I know it is time to get up and stretch my legs! The Blaze looks pretty cool.
