Workouts - Last Week Today - July 31

Had a great week of running this week. I'm in my 3rd week training for the Houston Half.  My mileage is increasing a little bit, and I've had one "speed" work session.

We've been getting afternoon showers in Houston this week, which brought down the temps.... mid 80's sure felt better than mid 90's!  I was even able to get a run in without walking water breaks.

Here is how my week shook out:

Sunday - 9 miles slow (average pace 11:00)

Monday - Rest.

Tuesday - 5 miles easy effort (average pace 10:28).

Wednesday - Rest.

Thursday - Rest

Friday - 5 miles - 1 mi slow, then 3 x 1 mile fast (9:29, 9:27, 9:27) with 2 minute recovery, 1 mi slow.

Saturday - 3.1 miles (average pace 9:29) - Ran my 5k for the Just Keep Running virtual race.

Total miles = 22

  1. Looks like a great week. Sometimes our afternoon showers just seem to make things steamier!

  2. We haven't had our typical afternoon showers for a couple of weeks now. I miss them! And so does our grass! You had a solid week of training! Our paces seem pretty similar. I ran my virtual race when my sister was here visiting a couple of weeks ago. I can't wait to see that medal! I'm trying not to skip speed work, which is very easy to do during marathon training. Thanks for linking, Vicki!

  3. We were so unsually hot for soooo long -- it's cooled off, but ti's steamy and raining a lot. I guess that's better . . . looks like you're nailing your workouts!

  10. I don't mind the afternoon shower as long as it late! Let it come and go between 3-6 and man it is really worse than before the rain! But here lately we've gotten into a pattern of pop up thunder storms coming just about daily!
