February Runfessions

I'm linking up with the lovely ladies today for Friday Five 2.0 and the fabulous Marcia for Runfessions.  February sure did fly by, but not without some things to come clean on!

I wasn't really planning on adding another half marathon to my race calendar this spring, but when the hubs decided to go out to the hunting club this weekend and the weather forecast is calling for near perfect running weather.  I runfess I had to hit that registration button... after writing about my running wishes the other day, it seemed as if it was my destiny to sign up.

I've finally decided that my very first pair of Altras are ready to be retired.  The tread is wearing down... the upper fabric has ripped and the upper is pulling away from the sole.  They have had a pretty good life... lots of miles... I've had them for a year and a half.  I runfess that I'm having trouble tossing them in the bin.

I may or may not be addicted to Nuun.  Since becoming an ambassador, I've taken full advantage of my discount and have been trying out all the different flavors and varieties.  I have 3 tubes at work, and quite a few more hanging out in my running fuel cabinet at home.  I runfess that I may need to designate another cabinet for my nuun stash. Be sure to watch my Instagram, as I am putting together a fun giveaway next week!

I also added to my Pro Compression collection (in addition to the 2 pair I picked up at last month's expo).  There really are so many cute designs, I couldn't help myself.  I runfess that I may be considering getting new shorts/tanks to coordinate... It's really a never ending cycle folks.

The Woodlands Marathon is next weekend... and I'm still planning on cheering and volunteering.  My plan was to have an epically funny and original sign.  I runfess that I'm not that creative, and may be borrowing an idea from one of my favorites I saw during the Houston Marathon.

What do you have to runfessions do you have?  Do you have a funny sign idea for me?

I'm linking up with Running on Happy & Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 linkup and with Marcia's Healthy Slice for Runfessions.

  1. I can relate to not wanting to retire a pair of sneakers. Although I don't run in them anymore, I still have my sneakers that I wore for my first half marathon in 2014, lol

I have yet to try to new Nuun Vitamins - I really need to get on that! I'm happy that you are loving the Pro Compression socks! As an ambassador for them, I always love to hear the positive feedback form runners!

  2. It took me FOREVER to throw away my first pair of sneaks... and I still have the last 3 pairs of nikes hanging around (and wearing them occasionally, but not to run) much to the disapproval of my husband (who has 6 pairs in the hallway!!). The struggle is REAL!

I would love to get some PC socks, I'm just really worried about the fit to be honest! I think I've near ordered about 5 times now. Thing is, I'm in Europe so... once I get them, that's pretty much it. I want to be sure that they are "right". I guess that's why I stick with my CEP's. but, there is FOMO going on for sure when I see all the cute socks!

  3. I'm guilty as charged with keeping old shoes around too long. It's not like I don't have new replacements for them.... I've got a "candy jar" filled with my Nuun tubes. Yes you kind of have to have all the flavors. Something for every mood! One cannot go wrong with a grumpy cat sign!

  4. I recently just finished up the last of my Nuun and I need to get some more. I usually buy them at expos since they have a sale going on, but I may have to go to my running store to get some now. I like drinking that even when I am not working out.

  5. I've got so many pairs of running shoes around the house! I hate giving them away because they look so good still!

  6. I'm not sure what my current count of "old" shoes is, but it's probably approaching the decade number (in shoe count, not age of said shoes LOL). It's really hard to part with the pretty shoes even if they no longer are in condition for running. I need to purge out a bunch of them and do some donating.

  12. I realized that I just recently donated my shoes from my first half... they were from 2002. We've moved multiple times since then, but somehow I just kept packing them up each time.

  14. I have only sampled Nuun at race expos...I know so many people love the stuff but I'm not sure if I'm a big fan, to be honest! I guess I just need the right flavor!

It's tough to give up a pair of shoes that you've had so many miles and memories with. You can still hold on to them!
