Chicago Marathon Training - Week 13

Chicago Marathon training - week 13I'm recapping the past week of training for the Chicago Marathon.  This was Chicago Marathon Training - Week 13 in the training cycle. In 21 short days, I'll be on the streets of Chicago running 26.2!

This week was my highest mileage week in this cycle.  "Life" happened a couple of nights and I was unable to get workouts in... our refrigerator and washing machine decided to stop working this week - FUN!

My gym partially reopened post-Harvey on Thursday, for that I was very thankful as I split my long run on Saturday between the trails and the treadmill. I'm hoping to get back in there for some strength sessions in the weeks ahead.

My diet was pretty good this week, for lunch this week I made a large batch of Roasted Broccoli, Sweet Potato, and Chickpea Salad ... it is so good, and has so many good things in it.   I did splurge on a piece of dark chocolate each day for dessert - but antioxidants, so I figure I'm still ahead.  I also tried out the new dairy-free Ben & Jerry's ice cream... so good, but maybe I should just stick with the piece of dark chocolate.

Chicago Marathon Training - Week 13:

Monday - 4 easy miles with 30 second strides - ended with 5 miles.

Chicago Marathon Training - Week 13 Tuesday - Rest.

Wednesday - Rest.

Thursday - 10 miles moderately hard effort.

  2. You just won't believe this! After having our fridge and washing machine for ten years, both of them stopped working last week. What are the chances that I would decide to read your blog and find the same thing! With all those miles this week, I would say chocolate cake was well-deserved!!

  6. Congrats on that 20 miler! That is SUCH a milestone in marathon training. It's all downhill from here (or so they say!). I hope you enjoy every step in Chicago. If it's turns out warm, you'll be well trained for that. Thanks for linking!

Our dishwasher decided to work after we had it looked at to the tune of $100. :( So far, so good, fingers crossed.
