September Runfessions

Happy Friday!

These months are flying by...it's hard to believe summer is over and we are 1 week into fall! I am not looking forward to when the days start getting shorter, but it's coming, soon... I've already seen the signs of it on my morning commute.  I'm looking forward to the weekend... I have a few easy runs to get in, and some packing for the big race.  Before we get into the weekend festivities... I've got to come clean on my September runfessions.

September Runfessions

I RUNFESS...

Since Harvey, my gym has been mostly closed (it partially reopened recently).  My workouts have mostly been all outside, in the heat & humidity... those paces that I was supposed to be hitting... yea, just no.

My "survivor guilt" is strong since Harvey... so much so that I feel bad running in the neighborhood (there were so many in our neighborhood that flooded), running past allt he piles of debris is just gut wrenching.  So I've been driving and parking to run to avoid it... I'm missing my old running routes.

The taper crazies haven't really effected me yet... I've mostly been enjoying the lower mileage and have been trying to get rested for the big day.  I did had some phantom aches and pains on my last run, leaving me wonder - where did that come from and will it still hurt in Chicago?

One of the things that has gotten me through all the tough runs in the steam pit of summer is that the weather on marathon day should be pretty nice, Needless to say, I've been stalking the weather this past week.

In anticipation of the cooler weather for Chicago I bought more spandits... capris this time. Sadly, my weather stalking has uncovered that it will be shorts weather.

What do you have to runfess?

  1. I brought capris to Berlin and it was shorts weather as well. Wow that debris is staggering. Makes my flooded basement very tame by comparison. Remember I'll be at mile 13 on the right in Chicago!

  2. Hopefully weather will be perfect for the marathon. Always nice to have an excuse to buy more workout clothes though.

  4. It hurts my heart to read how hard it is for you in the aftermath of Harvey - you were all affected (no matter how big or small the damage). Hang in there!
