Ultimate Coffee Date - February Edition

Today I'm joining the Ultimate Coffee Date for some catching up.  It's the ultimate coffee date - February edition! So go grab your favorite beverage of choice and have a seat and let's catch up.

I'm sipping on some coffee today. My brew for today is the Kansas City Dark Roast by the Roasterie.  Sadly, it's the last of those beans, I really need to get my family to send me some more.  I grind my beans by hand and use a french press for more of a mindful coffee experience.

Over Coffee...

I'd tell you that I signed up for a 50k in April and I'm pretty excited for it. I don't have my training plan lined out yet. I'm planning to continue along the same lines as my marathon training with some back to back long runs mixed in. The race I signed up for is the Brazos Bend 50.  I ran the 25k at this race last year and had a great time. This year should be no different... plus running later into the day I'm bound to see more alligators!

I'd mention that the hubs found a gently used pop-up camper for us.  That means a lot more camping trips.  While I do love to camp in the truck bed tent, the pop-up will give us more possibilities. Wouldn't you know it... we're planning trips to some trail races (and plenty of scuba trips too).

I'd tell you that I've got the volunteering bug.  I volunteered after my last race and have already signed up to volunteer at 2 more races this month.  It really is a joy to give back to the running community.  To tell you the truth, it doesn't make me sad that I earn racing credits while doing it either.

I'd ask if you how you were doing on your intentions or goals for the new year.  I set a word of the year for 2018, and that is helping to guide some of my choices.  I feel a little "off" without specific goals, so I have set some to focus on in February.  One of them is to complete Rachel's supermans-squats-twists challenge.

Finally I'd ask if you were watching the Super Bowl on Sunday, and if you were rooting for the Patriots, Eagles, or the commercials.  I'm pretty luke warm on the teams playing, but I'm rooting for the Eagles to win.  I'm also hoping the commercials are good this year.

Well, that catches me up...what would you tell me, if we were having coffee?

I'm linking up with ith Running on Happy & Fairytales and Fitness for the Friday Five 2.0 and  Got 2 Run 4 Me & Confessions of a Mother Runner for the Ultimate Coffee Date!

  2. Yay! I hope you have fun at your race! :] Volunteering is super fun--I've volunteered at a couple races in the past and the leftover refuel food/drinks at the end that were up for grabs definitely didn't hurt either. ;P

  3. I'd tell you I'd really like to try one of those small RVs sometime. I just have to convince Mr. Judy. To say he was lukewarm when I mentioned the idea would be putting it mildly. Until he talked to a coworker who was doing just that, of course!

  4. I'm in agreement with you on the Superbowl. I'm rooting for the Eagles, and am really excited for the commercials. It's great to see another runner giving back ;-) Thanks for volunteering so others can run!

  5. How fun that you are doing a 50k! I'm having FOMO--seems like all the cool kids are running ultras these days. I don't think, ok I don't want to run that far anymore. Ask me once the weather improves, tho.

  6. I love that you have caught the volunteering bug!

Totally agree with you about the Super Bowl. I'm a Giants fan so technically I don't really like either team, but I am secretly hoping that Philly wins. Tom Brady is just so obnoxious to me, lol

  8. Wow, a 50k and alligators?? Now that sounds intense!! Lol

You know, while running my marathon last weekend I was so impressed and encouraged by all of the volunteers that I told the hubs on the way home that I'd really like to volunteer for the marathon next year. To be able to lift someone's spirits during those tough later miles would feel amazing!

    Happy Camping!!

  9. Training for a 50K sounds really exciting! I don't think I could ever do an ultra lol!

I live in Philly so we're all rooting for the Eagles! I just hope for a good game and some good commercials would be great too!

I need to find some races to volunteer, I always forget to add that to my goals!

  11. Wow a 50K! I can't seem to get myself to do a full so an ultra is totally out of the question for me!

I'm hoping for a Philly win but that's just because I really dislike New England.
