Instant Pot (or not) Sriracha Hummus

Instant Pot (or not) Sriracha Hummus.
Hummus really lends itself to so many great flavors.  If you go to your local supermarket, you will find almost endless flavor combinations. I like experimenting with different flavor combinations as well, see my hummus recipes here, here, and here.

I've created a hummus that is a bit on the spicy side ... but oh, so delicious.  I really like it with cooling vegetables like cucumber and celery to complement the heat from the Sriracha.

My recipe uses dried chickpeas that have been soaked then cooked in the instant pot.  If you don't want to cook your own chickpeas, you can certainly use canned.  This recipe also doesn't use oil, just tahini for the fat.

Instant Pot (or not) Sriracha Hummus Ingredients for the chickpeas 1 1/2 cups dried chickpeas, soaked overnight and rinsed 6 cups water for the hummus 1/2 cup tahini 1 head garlic, roasted 1/4 cup sriracha (use less if you don't like a lot of heat) 3 TBS lemon juice 1 roasted red bel…

Last Week Today - Weekly Wrap July 29, 2018

This week I finally am feeling like I'm back in a regular training routine.  Even though I haven't been running a lot... I'm getting other types of workouts in and staying active.  This is Last Week Today - Weekly Wrap July 29, 2018.

Firstly, I felt like celebrations were in order on Friday when I realized I had gotten up early and made it to the gym every day before work!  There were several days I wanted to turn off the alarm and roll back over, but I resisted and got up.

Last week I smashed my fears and tried out a body pump class.  Turns out I really enjoyed it.  I made it to that class 3 times this week.  There were some serious DOMS from the first two classes, but eventually they went away.

I only ran 6 miles this week... and they were all treadmill miles.  I'm just not finding the motivation right now to get out there in the heat and pound the pavement.  Usually we don't have "heat advisories" in Houston, but we have had them here and there for the pa…

Ultimate Coffee Date - July Edition

Today I'm joining the Ultimate Coffee Date for some catching up.  It's the ultimate coffee date - July edition! So go grab your favorite beverage of choice and have a seat and let's catch up.

Today, my brew is a cup of Roasterie Voo Doo Dark Blend.
Over Coffee...
I'd tell you that the hubs ran a 5k with me!  He's done a few with me in the past, and I was thrilled to have him join me.  He really wasn't thrilled in the least, but joined in like a trooper.  In typical fashion, he high tailed it to the truck immediately after crossing the finish line... no after party for us. I did hear him tell his friends he ran a marathon.

Over Coffee...
I'd mention that I signed up for a lot of races at the Trail Racing Texas Sign-Up-A-Thon.  I registered for a total of five races.  Habanero Hundred (20k) in August, Colorado Crossing (4 mile and 10k), Blazing 7s (10k) in September, Wildflower 5k (May).  The timing of my sign-ups was pretty good as I won 3 prizes - a No Fine Prin…
