2020 Goals

I always love going into the New Year. I use the weeks leading up to the new year as a time to reflecting on the outgoing year and then use the first few weeks of the new year to dream of what I want to accomplish for the incoming year.

For many the "New Year New You" has such a negative connotation.  I think it is because when most people make New Year Resolutions they don't consider the why, seem to focus on the negative, and are made in haste.

Over the weekend, I listened to 3 great podcasts during my long run to help me dial in my goals and help with more introspection.
Ultra Stories - New Year New You
No Meat Athlete - 16 Impactful 2020 Resolutions So Easy You Could Start Them Today
Rich Roll Podcast - Kelly McGonigal Wants You To Fall In Love With Movement

In looking back, I've found that I do well when I make goals for myself.  When I don't, I tend to be all over the place without much direction.  I find this to be true in every area of my life.

For 2020, my one word for the year is FOCUS.  It's something that I haven't done in a while.  My training has been haphazard at best, my nutrition is all over the place, and I've been flitting from one project to the next without really finishing anything at work and at home.

Main Personal Goal:

  • Do something that brings me joy at least once a week.
  • Create a jar of happy by writing down those things so that I can look back on them at the end of the year.

Fitness Goals:

  • Run the year! 2020 miles in 2020.
  • Get into a strength training routine - 2 times/week by the end of January.
  • Practice Yoga at least once a week.
  • Ride my bike, use my paddleboard, hoola hoop!

Health Goals:

  • Get all my scheduled health screenings in this year (Physical, Blood Work, Mammogram, Well Woman).
  • Eat healthier. Cut down on the junk food and sweets.
  • Hydration.  Aim for at least 64 oz of water a day.

Blog Goals:

  • Blog more regularly - find a schedule and stick to it.
  • Finish the redesign of my blog.
  • Post at least 1 recipe each month.
Those are my goals for 2020.  I plan to post monthly updates on here to keep myself accountable.

Did you make resolutions or goals for 2020?
