Lots of Pun To Be Had: Punderdome - A Card Game For Pun Lovers

punderdomeI have a confession... I love puns. Another confession... I love board games, especially the ones that make you think. When I found that there was a game that combined both loves, I knew I had to try it... enter, Punderdome.

Punderdome comes from the daughter-father duo that created Brooklyn’s beloved live pun competition.

The game is pretty simple to play, and follows similarly to Cards Against Humanity or Apples to Apples... but with puns.  Each round a player becomes the prompter and draws two prompt cards from the deck.  On the back of each prompt card is a riddle type pun, the prompter reads the riddle and the other players come up with the best answer, the winner received 30 extra seconds to work on the next task - creating a pun from the 2 prompt cards.       When time is up, pun makers share their puns with the prompter, who awards the prompt cards to the player whose pun he or she likes best. The winner then draws the next pair of prompt cards and the process repeats.

·         200 double-sided cards (100 White and 100 Green)
·         2 Mystery Envelopes with fill-in prize slips
·         2 80-page pads for drafting puns
·         1 instruction card and 1 pun example card

I found this game to be mentally stimulating.  At times I was at a loss at creating a pun from the prompts.  The instructions have a good guide to use on different ways to go about creating a pun, which I found useful.  I think this would be a great game to play with my witty friends. I could see using the cards as a fun dinnertime conversation starter.

NOTE: I received a complimentary copy of this game from the publisher, through Blogging For Books for an honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
