Annual Wearing Of The Green

wp-1473774907071.jpgToday I'm joining the lovely ladies for Tuesdays On The Run.  Where we talk about a different topic each week that is running related.

Today's topic is "St. Patrick's Day".... we're talking about traditions, races,  costume... etc.

St. Patrick's Day was always one of my favorite holidays! There was never any stress involved on St. Patrick's Day ... there were parades ... March Madness ... the first signs of Spring.

In my college years it became more of a drinking holiday, although I have never had green beer. I even got some fancy green cowgirl boots to wear to the parade then out to the bars (I still wear them).

It only seemed natural to celebrate the holiday with running.  This year I'm starting what I hope to be a couple of new traditions...

Goose's Acre Running Club St. Baldrick's Fundraiser ... I went to this last night, it was a lot of fun.  It was St. Patrick's themed... everyone dressed in their finest green running clothes.  There was a raffle, beer specials, and a special goody bag. We ran first, then came back to the patio for a party.

I ended up winning a pork chop lunch/dinner package from Perry's Steakhouse (the irony was not lost on me... but the hubs will definitely enjoy).

Seabrook Lucky Trails Half Marathon - This race is run on the Seabrook nature trails, I'm hoping that the course will be scenic and that it will be loads of fun.

How do you celebrate St. Patrick's Day?

Today I'm linking up with MCM Mama Runs, Marcia’s Healthy Slice, and My no-guilt life for Tuesdays on the Run.

  1. I'm with you: I think St' Patty's Day is total fun even though I'm not much of a drinker. It's just a fun break in the winter. Love those green boots!

  2. Love those green boots! I never did get into the St. Patty's Day celebrations, but doing a themed race looks fun!
