Happy Friday. How did it get to be the last day of March already... it sure did fly by. I'm ready to head into April, but first I have to come clean with my March Runfessions.
I RUNFESS...I bought a new pair of running shoes. Did I need them? No. When Amazon announced they were increasing donation % for Amazon Smile to 5% for a day, I had to think of something to purchase, shoes came to mind. I got a pretty new pair of the Altra Torin (I got it a little bit below retail price). On this one... I'm blaming the dogs (my charity is All Border Collie Rescue, the rescue organization that we got our pups from).
I took a week off running. Do I feel guilty? Nope. After my last half marathon,
Seabrook Lucky Trails, I was sore. I don't know if it was due to a different running surface, my shoes, the awful humidity, hydration, or just not moving around enough afterwards. So, the week after I took the week off from running, I survived.
I've been skimping on my required amount of sleep this month, and it's all because of March Madness. Seriously, why do they schedule games so late on a "school night"? I'm pretty bummed out that my team lost in the elite eight match-up... but, I'll still be watching the rest of the games and cheering on UNC (Go Roy)!
I had wanted to switch up my running days so that I could have a weekend day off (i.e.; pajama day). It's sort of working, but not really. I like running four times a week, but fitting in 3 runs during the week plus a trip to yoga is pretty hard. I'm still in search of that elusive "day of leisure", and am thinking perhaps one a month would work great!
I'm not ready for summer. Frankly, this winter has felt like "summer-lite" most of the time in H-town. While I do love the warmer temps, it is nice to get a little break from them, which we just haven't. I'm a little scared at how hot it will be this summer.
What runfessions do you have? Do you dream about a day to do absolutely nothing?

I too would love a weekend pj day, but you're right they rarely ever happen. Shooting for one per month sounds like a good plan! No shame in resting up after your half!
ReplyDeletePJ days are awesome!
ReplyDeleteOoooh love the new running shoes. Super fun colour. And I mean, it's for a good cause!
ReplyDeleteI normally take a week off of running after a half marathon. My body & mind just seem to need the break. The most recent half I run a couple of weeks ago is the first half I didn't take a break after. Annnnnd then I took a break this week as I got horribly sick :/
I like running 2-3 times a week as I like doing other forms of exercise almost as much as running. And I need 1 rest day a week for sure.
