I'm linking up for the Friday Five and the topic for this week is fitness.
This weekend I will be running in the Memorial Hermann 10 For Texas race in The Woodlands, TX. This is a 10 mile race and will be my first ever at that distance. Like I always do, I have come up with some goals for the upcoming race.
- Start out slow (don't crash and burn in the beginning) ... run a reverse split race.
- Be confident... don't let race anxiety overwhelm me.
- Time goals ... I have an A, B, and C goal. C goal - 1:43; B goal - 1:40, A goal - 1:38.
- Execute on fueling and hydration strategy used during training runs.
- Have fun!
What types of goals do you set for a race?

I'm still working on my goals for my half! I don't really have time goals -- it's going to be very warm, so I think a PR is pretty much out of the question. So I'm working on others -- like negative splits, which would certainly be nice, except then there's the heat again . . . like I said, still working on it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck & run happy!
I hope your race went well! These are great goals - I like the idea of 3 time goals.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the heat! Thankfully we had a nice fall-like weekend, but we are back to summer for the foreseeable future.
ReplyDeleteIt went better than I thought. I adapted the 3 time goals from another blogger, I really liked the idea too.
